Embossing with the Revolution

Using Cuddlebug (brand) embossing folders with the Quickutz Revolution...yes, you can!

Read carefully.

ONLY use the embossing folders in conjunction with the gridded sticky mat. See the photo. The sticky mat set is 2 pieces. Use the thinnest piece (the one with the grid that is actually sticky) with the Cuddlebug embossing folders.

The sticky mat set is designed to be used with the Cookie Cutter alphas and comes with each set of CC alphas or can be purchased separately here or at your local QK retailer.

Finally, you can see a video of this being done by the Scrap-Mart Live lady here. It's a project video...and the embossing is done towards the end.

If you are embossing on a Revolution that has the extended platform (not the original), you can use more than one gridded sticky mat at the time (lay them end to end) to get the full coverage of the embossing folder. Also, if you add an extra layer of cardstock on top of the gridded sticky mat, the embossed impressions will come thru deeper and more detailed.

EDIT TO ADD: To acheive the same result with your Revolution and the expanded platform, use the sticky mat for the extension platform. This will allow you to utilize the entire length of the embossing folder. You can see that at the Memories in Bloom blog here.

Hello Governor.

The following came in the email today from a friend...made me laugh out loud.

Is it just me, or does anyone else find it amazing that during the mad cow epidemic our government could track a single cow, born in Canada almost three years ago, right to the stall where she slept in the state of Washington? And, they tracked her calves to their stalls. But they are unable to locate 11 million illegal aliens wandering around our country. Maybe we should give each of them a cow.

They keep talking about drafting a Constitution for Iraq. Why don't we just give them ours? It was written by a lot of really smart guys, it has worked for over 200 years, and we're not using it anymore.

T H E TEN C O M M A N D M E N T S

The real reason that we can't have the Ten Commandments posted in a courthouse is this: You cannot post "Thou Shalt Not Steal," "Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery," and "Thou Shall Not Lie" in a building full of lawyers, judges and politicians...It creates a hostile work environment.

And now for the political musing that strikes me every once in a while--Joal saw our governor in Starbucks the other day. I told him he should have asked him to stop spending money he doesn't have on behalf of the citizens of the great state of Tennessee.

See, I happen to think that our government should act like it's citizens. When things get tight or an unexpected expense happens, you find some place else to tighten up or you do something useful to generate more income. Something useful being get a job or sell something, not raise taxes. Apparently, our governor doesn't understand this basic principle of economics. Fiscal responsibility...what's that? It surely doesn't mean adding an addition to the house (the one you don't even live in) for parties, with money you don't have. Hello.

There was an article in The Tennessean last week talking about how the state budget may have to "take a hit" (which appears to mean "not grow so much" rather than actually make cuts) given the precarious state of our state economy. Well, I'm not in a panic over the economy...I really don't think it's as bad as some say...but I do know that it's incredulous for the state budget not to feel some shrinkage when it's citizens are also feeling some shrinkage. It's irresponsible of our government to act like a spoiled child in matters of fiscal responsibility. Somebody needs to do some hand-smacking and take a time-out.

So, I'm guessing it was likely a good thing it wasn't me who ran into the governor at Starbucks.

In other news, I thought this project posted at 2Peas was totally cool and link-worthy! Enjoy!

And finally, did you see the 4 (count them...4) new alphabets Quickutz is releasing on Saturday (in honor of "National Scrapbook Day")? I think I may need to take on a new client or three. :)

Under the heading of *I do not recommend movies*, I watched what I think is a good movie last night. It's a western called Avenging Angel. You can read the Blockbuster synopsis here. It stars Kevin Sorbo (whom I liked to watch in Andromeda) as a preacher who becomes a gun-slinger to avenge the unwarranted death of his wife and child. It's set in a small town in the late 1800's...it's not without some typical gun-slinger/western violence but no curse words. It's predictable but still enjoyable and of course, the preacher finds his way back from the path of vengence in the end and...well, I don't want to spoil it for you. :)

Just a side note: I thought it was interesting that on Andromeda, his late wife's name was Sarah. In this movie, the wife that dies is also named Sarah.

Now the disclaimer: I have given up ever recommending movies to anyone. I have learned the hard way that apparently I a) have weird tastes in movies and b) am not as sensitive to language as other people are and c) am more sensitive to stupidity than most people. So I have a standing rule. I don't ever recommend movies, but I might tell you if I like something I see. But if you choose to watch it...you are on your own. I accept no responsibility.

Just sayin'.

In other news, I have come to an enlightening conclusion about myself and scrapbooking--I need a scrapbooking assistant.

My scrapbooking assistant's duties would include:
--organizing and maintaining my Bazzill. I am inept in this area and consequently spend way too much time hunting for the right shade.
--making die cuts as ordered on large projects that require many of the same die. I get bored easily and hate repetitive tasks. How nice would it be to say "I need 65 of these flowers in this color please." LOL!
--when not otherwise occupied my sb assistant would straighten my area and throw away the giblets.
--when I get "stuck" the scrapbooking assistant would offer suggestions based on supplies I already have so I wouldn't be forced to go to 2peas or scrapbooks.com and check out galleries for ideas with items I don't have and of course, then want to purchase.
--the scrapbook assistant would keep up with my essentials so I could spend less time hunting for things.
--the scrapbooking assistant would be able to (at a moment's notice) remember where I saw a certain idea...whether in a magazine, online or in person.
--the scrapbooking assistant would organize all my photos and oversee the uploading process which takes f-o-r-e-v-e-r.

Don't you think this is a good idea?

In Quickutz news, the second round of Scrapn' Memories QK Konnections club is meeting this Saturday at 2. There's still some room, if you're interested. The theme is very bold flowers.

And I had a brainstorm tonight. A Quickutz brainstorm. I saw this paper at http://www.scrapbooks.com/ and I was completely lovin' it. And then it hit me...how easy it would be to *make* this paper background with this QK die, which I just so happen to own...so I did. (In real life, the colors are a little cleaner...it's 2 am so I can't take a picture in the outdoor light for a more accurate representation of it. Imagine.)
